[vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”What is CBD?” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]CBD is the non-psychoactive portion of the cannabis plant, so that means you won’t have any effects like euphoria or sedation. CBD is easily obtainable in most parts of the United States. All 50 states have laws legalizing CBD with varying degrees of restriction; however, the federal government still considers CBD in the same drug class as marijuana. As of December 2015, the FDA eased the regulatory requirements to allow researchers to conduct CBD trials.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Can CBD help with heroin cravings?” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]In a recent trial for CBD, researchers studied its use for treating heroin use and anxiety. Researches have been looking into using CBD to reduce cravings and anxiety surrounding heroin use and recovery. In a study of 42 men and women who have recently stopped using heroin, half received 400 to 800 milligrams of CBD daily while the other half of people received a placebo. The study then examined how each person responded to different images and scenarios both related and unrelated to drugs use during three different sessions.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2683″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” el_class=”resp-img”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]They found that the people who received the CBD had significantly less drug cravings and anxiety when looking at pictures of people using drugs. CBD also reduced cravings and anxiety for up to seven days after the last time dose was administered Surprisingly the researchers also found that CBD reduced heart rate and salivary cortisol levels, which usually increase when anxiety provoking images of drug use are shown to addicts. This further supports the idea that CBD could possibly be a promising tool in helping to curb opioid addiction.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Since CBD is not legal in all 50 states, and still under the same drug class as marijuana, this treatment method is still considered quite controversial and not FDA approved.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
